Hansen Pond Preserve

The 1.3 mile out-and-back Hansen Pond Trail is open during daylight hours and is open for skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling in the winter and non-motorized travel the rest of the year. Bicycles are permitted – please share the trail and be aware of hikers. Dogs are welcome if kept on a leash.

The trail offers walks through the woods, a scenic view from the old logging road, several pedestrian-only routes, and ends at a scenic overlook of the pond, which is entirely undeveloped. Some hills and sections of uneven terrain make it a more challenging hike, but the effort is well rewarded with spectacular seasonal views: vibrant leaves in the fall and snow-covered hemlocks in the winter. Animal tracks abound.

Two kayaks and a canoe and paddles are available from May through October. Boats are stored on a rack and must be carried a short distance down to the dock. You must bring your own personal flotation device (PFD) or borrow one from us in advance of your trip. Thanks to a generous member, we have a small/medium and large/x-large to lend. Paddling is at your own risk and adults only.

Directions: The parking area is at on the east side of H Road, 0.3 miles north of Anderson Cove Rd (and 2.2 miles north of Romac Orchard). The Google map location is shown here. The location shows up on most maps as the intersection of H Road and “Hansen Pond Road”. Please note that Hansen Pond Road is not accessible, even though it might show up on some maps as a driveable road.
