Three Rivers is grateful to have a group of fabulous volunteers who help us with a range of tasks during the year, including trail clearing, painting story walk boards, and planting native species. There is a new opportunity we welcome you to join: Help the next generation become good ecologists and land stewards by assisting our hard-working public school teachers with outdoor education.
Last year we were able to bring some extra hands to help Sanford Middle School teacher Diana Allen’s 7th grade students learn about aquatic macroinvertebrates – and we learned as much as the students did! Next week, Mrs. Allen’s students will head outside to be good citizens and good citizen scientists by cleaning up plastic litter and collecting data using the Marine Debris Tracker app. We don’t have the date yet, but if you have any interest in participating next week or any time during the school year, please complete the background check form and return it to as soon as you can. There are many opportunities to learn and help our science teachers!
